I always start with the assumption of good faith.

Same here. I struggled with that for a while. Being on the spectrum led me to a bad place as a child. But I worked pretty hard to come to the conclusion that most people do what they think is best. Now their methods might not be the best. Or what they consider to be the "best" might be questionable. But pretty much no one wakes up in the morning, rubbing their hands with the goal of committing evil or screwing over as many people as possible.

I take it as a matter of faith that almost everyone is perfectible. And people are not inherently evil. It was tough getting to that point, though.
