Gary,

I agree with you about my "favorite" stock statement. I try never
to get emotionally tied to a stock. However, ASND did become a favorite of mine when it broke through $25. I have been building a core position.

Reasons why I am holding a core position in ASND.

* Possible Buy Out.
* Ascend has a "Turn Around Story" to tell at conferences.
* 2H "Double Digit Sequential Growth"
* GX 550 "killer product"
* Ashby's comment when asked about increasing Q4 earnings,
"What's the point". ( Building Q1 backlog )
* Analyst sentiment has been changed to a "BUY".
* Networking sector is down, it will rise.
* 1999 upward earnings revisions.
* Repricing employee stock options at $24.

Reasons why I am trading around my core position.

* The CSCO threat.
* Market gyrations.
* Slow growth 1H.

This seems to be the story for Ascend. (IMO) I may not have it
completely right, but ASND looks better to me than the other
networking stocks. I can make money with this stock.

When/if ASND seems poised to falter, it will be time to move on.
