I’m pretty sure you can’t assume that anyone taking a lethal dose will die of it. And a lethal dose surely depends on lots of factors. So, I’m certain there are. My point is that when the coroner is making it clear drugs were some part of the cause (>0.0% responsible), I don’t know how a righteous jury outcome can convict the cop of murder or even manslaughter. I don’t pretend, however, that this is a nonracial environment. I would be surprised if there isn’t a racially motivated decision.

I would be the last person to condemn anyone for drug addiction. I’ve worked with addicts over the years and known more than a typical share of addicts who didn’t survive. I do not consider addiction as bad behavior, rather, I see it as a pathological condition that results in bad behaviors. I am not naive enough to believe that drug addiction is a product of bad behavior because the truth has it the other way around. And unfortunately, I’ve known a number of addicts who didn’t survive their illness and many more who have done prison time as “punishment” for addiction.

I do not fault addicts for their addictions.

But I don’t fault cops when addicts die a drug related death, regardless of anyone's race. I hate the thought that the cop could be convicted to avoid a race riot.
