No one tried to "take control." Some asshole in a buffalo outfit took an envelope. Really. Trump didn't want a second term? He didn't want Pence to succumb to pressure and decline to certify? I recognize that many, probably most, of those who stormed the Capitol were not aware of the big picture. They didn't realize they were part of an insurrection. It's a characteristic of dupes. But that doesn't mean it didn't occur.
