Or it could be a response to what ALYD'S partner CPWR announced:
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR) today announced enhanced functionality in its test management product, QADirector, to include a repository copy function and mainframe batch support. These new features extend an organization's ability to manage test scripts for century-date change conversion as well as general application testing across all IT environments.
Due to the extensive amount of testing on mainframes and client/server systems required to ensure that applications are compliant for Year 2000, test management software must be employed to manage the huge number of test cases that will be created. QADirector is the only product available that manages mainframe and client/server tests.
PCS Health Systems, a full-service health care management supplier in Scottsdale, Arizona, has been using QADirector to manage its Year 2000 testing process. PCS tests applications involving critical business processes, including prescription claims that need to be processed correctly to ensure proper quantity fills.
"We now have a complete reusable, repeatable, and migrateable regression test system," said Carl Cecil, PCS Health Systems Consulting Analyst. "After Year 2000, our core business will still be the same and we'll be able to use those tests to ensure that our applications continue to perform as required."
"QADirector's multi-platform support is beneficial as well. It not only tests our COBOL, TSO and CICS applications, but can pull in Compuware's QARun to test our client/server GUI applications," added Cecil.
In addition, PCS has been using QAHiperstation, Compuware's product for automated testing of mainframe programs, to create a suite of reusable tests to help ensure applications that have been converted will work in the next century.
QADirector integrates test management with automated testing to provide a framework for managing the entire testing process across platforms. QADirector has a central test repository that can be customized to address an organization's specific needs. This allows cross-platform testing coordination from a single point of control. QADirector includes many features to help quality assurance groups organize their testing process and track the results. It streamlines management of the testing process, simplified test execution, and provides online test analysis by offering detailed and customizable reports. New features include:
* A repository copy function, which enables the use of multiple repositories and increases the number of feasible concurrent users operating the program at any given time.
* Mainframe batch support, which provides the ability to run any batch program/job, including the batch components of Compuware's File-AID product line. This allows users to back up and restore data files or databases prior to testing their applications or systems. It also allows users to compare resulting files or databases using batch utilities. Similar support for client/server applications is provided by QADirector's integration with Compuware File AID/CS.
* Direct interface to view test results generated from QAHiperstation+ and QARun tests. This provides integrated offerings including planning, execution, and results analysis with information from these testing phases shareable across the organization.
"The Year 2000 conversion problem is, quite simply, a testing problem, albeit a huge one for any organization," said Michael Connor, Compuware Director of Automated Testing Product Management. "QADirector gives companies an effective way to manage their testing process and all of their testing assets, such as scripts and test plans for Year 2000 projects and beyond."
QACenter
QACenter is the only testing product line on the market that supports the entire enterprise, including mainframe, client/server, and web applications. QARun is Compuware's enterprise-wide script development and test execution tool for client/server applications. QALoad is used for load and performance testing. QAHiperstation is used to test mainframe applications.
