Other than the fact that the guy I know did not access his weapon until the robber was leaving, you have a point. As to the Warsaw Ghetto, we don't know what would have happened. We do know what happened. There is a lot to be said about not allowing yourself to be rounded up like cattle. But it certainly didn't improve the situation. Given that is about the only case where the "resisting a tyrannical government" could have come into to play, the track record isn't so good. Tiananmen Square is also often mentioned. But that is just silly.
