To all: neat link below has pretty colour pictures of stress proteins.

Mysticism aficionados will note that the structure has a seven-fold symmetry with 7 identical structures arranged in a circle. Donut fans can rejoice because the circle has a hole in the middle. Two donuts are stacked on top of each other to make a thick pipe-like affair. Lastly, a small cap covers up one end of the hole through the stacked donuts. The result looks like a thick pot.

I gather from the text that proteins fresh off the DNA go into the pot, get folded correctly, and go out of the pot.

I'm guessing that the unique and regular structure of these nano-pots is what makes foreign stress proteins so incredibly recognizable by the immune system.

Maybe some scientific or medical lurkers can explain more to us about the donuts and nano-pots.
