J-R, in my view, Jean Monty accepted this position because he's aware of the terrible consequences of failure for Canada in general if we don't beat the Y2K problem.

I apologize if I gave the impression that he'd use his position to push a personal agenda - based on his past record, I firmly believe his personal integrity would not allow him to get into a conflict of interest position over this, or any other business issue.

Finally, I think CGI has all the Y2K work it wants in supporting current clients and is not seeking new Y2K-only clients. Y2K is a short-term business - outsourcing is a far more interesting long-term business.

J-R, there are five Canadian public firms in the year 2000 business. Check the link below for info on all five.

Subject 17540

Cognicase has been getting a lot of attention lately and seems very well positioned.

Note that Bell Sygma (to be owned by CGI Group later this year) has a stake in Cognicase. Note also that DMR is an even larger stakeholder in Cognicase and has set up a couple of Cognicase conversion factories in Europe and one in Australia, plus the one in Montreal.

To MB: Please send the correct symbol for DMR. Is it Canadian?. I checked a DMR on my Cdn site and got an exploration company. Please publish the correct name of the company. Thanks Ashoka
