We need solid estimates to be able to say something like: 50,000 more cancer deaths! 40,000 more heart attacks! 25,000 more suicides! The real figures are that in 2020, COVID-19 clocked in at number 3 on the hot list of deaths in the US. Number 1 was the perennial favorite, heart disease at about 660,000. The runner up was a strong showing by cancer at about 600,000. The challenger, COVID-19 was a strong half a million, far distancing the rest of the pack and over 3 times the number 4 spot. Oh yeah. And suicides were at a 20 year low. Traffic deaths were also at a low.
