First off, this is another case where you have trouble with a sequence of events. The cops who left the landing weren't armed. They were having trouble controlling the mob. They left because a different group of armed cops were coming up the stairs, who were better equipped to deal with the mob. So your narrative has major holes as a result. And falls apart. So most of the problems with the comment are yours. But, good try. Be sure and pick up your prize while you go out the door.
