Diogeron-
Those are the exactly the fate that qcom has been trying to avoid. The strategy has been to develop a superior technology, license as many users as possible so that others use the technology in enough mass to avoid extermination, and join the fray of manufacturers by teaming up with as many experts as they can to learn that business.

Ericy, on the other hand felt (or said at least, that cdma wouldn't work, tried to stall the better technology, in hopes of making as much money as possible by killing the rival. It looks likes that strategy may not work, cdma is too much better than GSM. Now they're claiming to have invented it. We'll see how successful they are attempting to switch horses now.
