I know smart phones are essential to many people. However, I'm a homebody and would rather invest in a modular system that's easier to augment. Just think there's more bang for the buck with a PC and get enough computing there. * * *

Doesn't it boil down to simply different needs and preferences based on life style? Your "out and about" is different than mine. There was a time when I wanted / needed to stay "connected" when I was out and about. Now I do the "out and about" thing to get away from being "connected" which is why I don't have a cell phone. I even reached a deal with my wife. She is cell phone addicted but when we are out in the woods with our dog, her cell stays at home.
