Sorry to hear about that. Such things can be challenging to those charged with caregiving. She, too, thinks she's dealing with literal facts. And we run into similar issues with i-node. Often not even as well-grounded in reality. Like his seeming conviction that QAnon is a hoax perpetrated by the media. I suppose they seed rallies with people dressed in Q attire, holding Q signs and hire "crisis actors" to pose as believers in Q theories that they then interviews. Now granted, the whole field of epistemology is shot through with these sort of things as thought experiments so you can think about the issues of what you actually know, but...
