Basically, we are witnessing a global mass psychosis, a comedy (or is it tragedy?) of irrational behaviors and attitudes, worse in some countries than others. Must be making our leaders very proud of themselves. Also, they’re learning how to sell their ignorance as proof of how great they are. It all gives science a bad name... but most of our “leader” scientists deserve this. Things will get sorted out in time. Or not.
