The one time we saw him in action, HE lied, but Trump didn't. IIRC, Trump wanted to make sure the whore was paid in cash to make it untraceable. He was very persistent about it. Cohen repeatedly, in no uncertain terms, said, "I'll take care of that. Let ME take care of that." (This, of course, was an entirely legal transaction from Trump's perspective). These are clear directives from his attorney that the attorney would do the dirty work and that Trump should stay out of it. That's what an attorney is for.
