Followed by:< That is, effectively, authoritarian government.> You're saying he's putting the country at risk, ergo, he has created an authoritarian government. You can reasonably claim that he's taking us in the wrong direction, that he's not good for the country, and you are concerned. You have given no explanation for how that somehow converts our form of government to authoritarianism. No matter how bad the things he's doing to the country, the government is still the government, all its parts and pieces still there. At issue was not whether he's doing the right things but your claim that our government had become authoritarian at his hands. You haven't begun to make a case for that."Authoritarian - a form of government characterized by the rejection of political plurality, the use of a strong central power to preserve the political status quo, and reductions in the rule of law, separation of powers, and democratic voting." Pretty damned close. Not at all close. We have political plurality. We are governed at all levels and in all places by those who win elections. More people voted for Biden and he has a 55% approval rating. Both houses of congress went to his team. Strong central power? Except for the legislative and judicial branches, which are still as operational as they were, you might have a point. And speak to the matter of separation of powers. As for rule of law, I have not noticed any assaults, not since January. And as for democratic voting, his team is working mightily to fight off the voter suppression initiatives coming at force from his anti-democratic opposition. Yeah, pretty damned close, indeed, if by close you mean pretty damned close to opposite.
