Ed: As I am sure you are aware, we in Florida do in fact pay PROPERTY taxes, despite what the author of that first letter says. Having recently written a check to my county government for over $1,600 dollars I am painfully aware of this fact. I'm sure what the author meant was Floridians pay no state INCOME tax (Uncle Sam still gets his pound of flesh, though). I saw an article the other day that said someone on a committee considering revisions to the Florida constitution brought up the idea of repealing the ban on state income taxes. That person instantly became a target of abuse for even suggesting consideration of such a thing! TKA
