CHAT with Steve, Bob, and Jim and others

I have also been very interested in the Cpq-Dec deal and how that will play out for everyone, especially Intel. It seems there are a lot of opinions on Alpha, etc...

I have followed the Intel board here on SI for awhile and there is a very knowledgeable person there by the name of Paul Engel. Here's three posts from him today that show some of his opinions on Alpha/Merced. His perspective is interesting and worth a read bc he used to work at Intel, I believe. It may stir your hats and/or answer some questions...

Steve [re: Alpha & Intel] You are in the Ball Park!

Didn't INTC buy the Alpha from DEC?

Digital has handed manufacturing responsibilities and some patent
rights for the Alpha chip over to Intel.

For a good story on Compaq/DEC and the quote above
What can $9.6 billion get you these days?

You have to register, but worth the effort as Network World Fusion is
a good source for information. I have a Subscription to Network World at work.
