Maybe this is heresy to the PRC (I know I defend them often in many things)

I do not look at Taiwan in the same light as HK.. HK is the result of foreign Imperialism.. the West should just STFU and but out... Taiwan is a different kettle of fish IMO.. it is the defacto result of a somewhat successful war of secession although it was we know a civil war battle for the entire country really... PRC lost Taiwan to the KMT fair and square... a rapprochement diplomatically would be the logical thing... renewing cultural ties yada yada.. leaving yes two Chinas... would IMHO be best for both sides... in partnership diplomatically ... would be anathema to the US and much of the West though... although EU is showing different signals than the US wants... It is is a fallacy for Mr. Biden to think the the EU for one believes that US #1 is better for anyone else than the US alone.. it is not necessarily

Afghanistan has stymied conquerors for centuries if not millennia,,, maps often included them in this or that empire but in reality they were really never in submission..

Even my solution would be a deathblow for the SOXL but could be win/win for two Chinas..

growing up in Canada, (Montreal) 1010 was a BIG deal... my roots are KMT in that sense... My China (PRC) view likely has my grandpa rolling over in his grave :)
