Justin,

Based on other reports on this thread, it appears that other major markets have higher Qualcomm product distribution levels.

These varied distribution levels and inadequate marketing support could be caused by one or more of the following:

1. The market is growing so rapidly, that the Q isn't worried about securing high (let alone monitoring) distribution and sales levels in all the major markets.

2. Syndicated point-of-sale scanning information may not be available to measure distribution levels (although it can be estimated through store audits).

3. A weak sales/broker network, due to lack of resources or sales approach to secure distribution commitments. Nokia, Ericy, and MOT have sales/broker network that shuts door on the "little guy" at retail headquarters and at the store-level.

4. It costs dollars to compete, such as assembling retailer-oriented category plans, syndicated data investments, as well as delivering specialized displays and marketing collateral to stores.

Please keep us informed if conditions do change in NYC.
