I'm still not actively daytrading. I take a few positions, now and then and it has been profitable. However, I am not yet comfortable enough to do it extensively. The position has too scream buy or sell for me to jump in.

However, I have been position trading for several years.

My long term average is 68.3% profitable trades. This translates to a
win/loss ratio of 2.158.

This is not an excellent record, but I can live with it. The average
loss has been 2.6% (including commissions) and the average gain has been 9.2%.

Discipline in stops (mental) keeps the losses low. Raising them as the
stock moves locks in the wins.

This method, however, requires that I accept the fact that 31.7% of the time, I was wrong. Oh well. Comes with the game.

Most people I know hold when the stock moves against them and become
long term investors because admitting they were wrong is too painful.
They shouldn't be trading.

Enjoy the ride,

Ira
