ADSL article in Inter@ctive Week hard copy (pg 25).

main points:

- almost for certain NO UAWG standard DSL lite modems this Christmas.

- HotWire MVL could be selected by UAWG, due to MANY of it's innovative features. Cheaper (~$150), longer reach (24000ft), less power/ heat rack-densities, lower freq. that doesn't interfere with other phone equipment/services, it's ability to provision it's 768kbps of bandwidth - upstream, downstream, synchronously or multiplexed into data and/or voice (offering 8 phone lines, or 1/3 of a T1 for FAR less the cost)

Still, DMT will likely be pushed by many in the group, even if it isn't necessarily the optimum solution.

Also in same issue, good article on Telecom Act and phone competition.
