Jim, Concerning Newbridge. I absolutely hate this company. Their UB Networks deal was an incredible blunder and now these latest earnings are horrible and they are not because of UB, they're because sales were really bad. It might be a good pop because no one can even figure out what's going on with it today but it is a gamble. Management is going to have to start pulling some serious rabbits, birds, monkeys, you name it out of it's hat in order to impress anyone and that might take some time.

Randy

Hi Jim
That is probably a good idea but I agree with randy kay, NN is a stinker(Im Bitter).<g> They are "well sold". I agree with you that the downgrade is a buy and the upgrade is a sell, (a lesson taught to us by JBIL at 70) but with NN we will wait until a base is formed. Who ever sold us those last NN calls is still laughing.
Take Care and good trading.

Jim, main competition for NN I think is Cisco and also Bay. The president of Bay recently said something about how Newbridge would be in trouble (check the Yahoo releases, it might be there) which is interesting because NN president was bad mouthing competitors right before that (soap opera begins)

Quick history:

Terry Matthews and Michael Copeland formed Mitel ages ago. After hyping it to investors and then dumping their own shares, Mitel kind of went down the tubes until it was eventually sold.

Copeland went on to start Corel and Matthews started Newbridge.

Not long ago Copeland started talking up Corel, sold a bunch of his personal holdings and then it flopped big time, still down there.

When Newbridge hit about $85 cnd not long ago (peaked at $95), Matthews started saying things like 'we're going to eat the competition for lunch, blah, blah, blah', all the while he and other insiders were dumping. Matthews sold about $16 mil worth at the top. When these guys start talking, RUN FOR THE DOORS!

That said, I'm sure the company will do well in the future. Personally, I couldn't be bothered with it, I'd rather have dinner with the competition and chow down on some raw Newbridge burgers. Mmmm...Yummy.
