says a lot about culture

I worked with a number of Chinese descendants from the Bay Area and they would talk about going to Chinese school after their regular school during the week and on Saturdays. Education is everything and failure is not an option. Was there a Korean equivalent in NYC as you grew up?

But for the most part, the Asian students who make it into NYC's elite schools like Stuyvesant and Bronx Science live in households that make less than the median income for New York residents. Indeed, most Asian households living in majority-Asian neighborhoods in NYC make less than $52,000/year. That even lower than Black households in majority-Black neighborhoods (though not much lower).

Using the income of Asian households as a stat does not address the question I asked......Asian's living here have to contend with the same bigotry that other minorities do.......but they do and they have a better record of beating it......hurray for them....
The immigrants or their offspring exhibit qualities that all of us envy...especially the drive to excel.... I've said it many times in this forum as I lament the fact that most of the PhD candidates in science and math are Asian.... My son is an exception but recognizes the facts.. Most on these boards and certainly far fewer in the country have a clue about it.
