I don't want to shrink the Democratic party at all.

In fact I think we need to get back to being the party of the worker!!

Some people are completely misunderstanding what I am posting!

As far as Manchin goes, I don't know how I can be much clearer. I am glad he is a Democrat, but I also think it is important to understand his behavior.

It is always important for one to understand as much as they can.

Simple as that, and that is all I was getting at!

<,
the worst Democratic senator is better than the best Republican senator---
I agree and that includes Manchin. Democrats have a big tent. You don't want it to shrink too much.

Here is where I think we have two competing ideas regarding how we Democrats should go forward.

There are those who think we should moderate our policies to seduce moderate Republicans to come over to our party.

And people like me, and dare I say Rachael Bitecofer, who had the best record predicting the 2020 election, believe that is the wrong path.

I believe the better path is to woo the "independents" and others by showing them the worth of our progressive policies. We only need to get 10% of them.

Obama tried wooing the Republicans and it was an unmitigated disaster.

Biden saw that and has done the opposite and it has been a huge success. People love his progressive policy and his approval rating is still climbing and he is frustrating the Republicans who can't find a way to go after him.

The reason the kids and women are fleeing the Republican party is because we Democrats fly the progressive banner, and the minorities, while being more moderate culturally, like our policies as well and so partner with us.

So that is why we lose nothing by pointing out how bad the Republicans are, and how good we Democrats are.

People are coming to the Democratic party not just because our policies are good, but because the Republicans are so bad e.g. the huge numbers of people who fled the Republicans after January 6th.
