Why couldn't the Democrats leverage that power to trade with the Republicans. Given that the Texas Rep party is far deeper into divisive politics than the national party, I don't see them doing any deals with the Dems in a Dem lead Texas House. Stopping bad stuff is a good thing. But it's not yet making positive changes. My own guess is that this embodiment of the Republican party, national and statewide is going to have to be beaten badly before serious bipartisanship is a serious possibility.
