Archer,

This should give us a little better idea of what is going on.

multichannel.com

>>>Rockwell Semiconductor Systems Inc. will hit the market with a $55,
three-chip set for standards-complaint cable modems in May, executives with
the chip giant said last week.

A handful of companies are already in line for the chips, including Harmonic
Lightwaves Inc.
, 3Com Corp., NEC, Panasonic and new entrant Daewoo
Electronics. The chips were designed to comply with Cable Television
Laboratories Inc.'s MCNS (Multimedia Cable Network System) specification<<<

Much more in the article.

Leo

Good report. I've often wondered at HLIT's ability to handle the scope of a major buildout at TCI and what you say confirms this. They've taken the approach that they want to do direct customer sales and not deal with companies like Antec as a reseller. It's an agressive move, and hopefully will work.

The presentation to Rob Stephens is interesting. This could well put some buying pressure on. Do you know what day this will happen?

Thanks again for your good report.

Regards,

Mark

Archer, thanks for the information, and the intelligent opinion. Well, lets hope the new chips they are getting from Rockwell, and the alliances with Daewoo and Panasonic, will allow HLIT into the consumer cable modem business, this summer.Their scaleable optical node, should be a good seller. Well their 2 new clients 21st Century, and CVUS both need funding to continue spending, and are not in a position to overleverage themselves. I can't imagine GI(NLV) or SFA,having the fiber optic engineers or expertise that HLIT does.
Thanks again for the info.
Tim

Thank you Archer for your comments regarding a visit with HLIT. It is good to hear from someone that can do that and get information directly from the source. I was encouraged to read your comment:
There is now visibility for Q1.
But my battered not so optimistic experience with HLIT prodded me to ask for a confirmation from you that what you typed is indeed what you meant to say as opposed to :
There is no visibility for Q1.
I would be happy to hear that you were right the first time and please confirm that what you wrote was really what their representative stated and not your opinion just so we can put things in the proper perspective.
Thanks again for your input and hope you can shoot some positive arrows to get HLIT flying again.
