Science is "beautiful" in the sense of wonder and possibilities.

Science is in a constant battle with superstition, and fear of "demons" or such.

I am sadly astounded by the lack of science in the cultures of the third world "masses." Travel beyond the tourist loops opens eyes. Where literacy, and access to information is still an issue way before we get to understanding QM or black holes.

Americans are offered mass science education in public schools and too many reject it and battle teachers. They are brainwashed very young to spin critical thinking into confirmation bias, or just not providing instant pleasure.

While in many other countries children, especially girls, are desperate to go to school after the fourth grade. In our country, when PBS's NOVA program covers the cosmos, people still choose Judge Judy or American Idol. Science people are a form of elite -- it does not need to be this way,
