Zip used in hospital data management

I have on my desk a training manual from Boehringer Mannhem. This company among other things makes computerized lab testing equipment and hospital data management software. You know when you go to the Doctors office or to the hospital and they want some lab work, this is the company that makes the stuff that does the tests.

This training manual is called HDM Hospital Data Manager. From looking at the Manual HDM is for: File handling
Handles multiple data bases on a hard drive. Imports operator certification. Is used with MS Office applications.

This system is to manage patient, operator and quality control data for point of care glucose monitoring instruments. The previous software system only allowed backing up on 3.5 floppies. The upgrade suggests backing up on Zips, tapes and hard drives. These are legal documents and backups are essential for State and Federal regulations. My Wife is the hospital's Chief Medical Technologist and she uses a Zip.

So there we have it folks Zip good enough According to Boehringer Mannhem to Back up critical data and suggested as a back up device to use.
