Actually wasn't it really a travesty promoting the rights of the few (RICH WHITE SLAVE and LAND owners) over the rights of the many ? (well that we KNOW :) Canadian model was Peace Order and Good government .. and that went to shit too LOL.. just less so Democracy of ANY type works great in small numbers where all, have skin in the game directly once population gets big .. forget it.. it is tyranny .. Republican or Parliamentary system no matter .. it is all the same Neither is better
