Nope.. not so in Canada .. we gots our warts .. and the Canuck sense of smugness is not warranted.. but we do not have that one..

Now who exactly were the people in the We the People line :) certainly not al the people :) Then again many Canadians do not know the whole story of the underground railroad ... we just pat ourselves smugly on the back.. in reality There were 'black' towns in the Maritimes... so if that is not segregation ...well.. Didn't change really after our Confederation around teh same time as your Civil War.. That area under the Brits were already practiced at isolating folks .. ie. the Acadians... some of whom (Many) were shipped off to your south...
