Hi,

Everything i know so far comes from the following sites which i have been pouring over when i have the time:

poet.com
rational.com
odi.com
byte.com (search on 'object database')
odmg.org
objy.com

It seems that 'object database' is a misnomer in some respects, b/c "object databases" are quite different in terms of engineering from relational databases. I like "persistent storage and retrieval" of objects.

So much to learn,
too little time.

Cheers,

m

Bipin,

[OFF TOPIC COMPLETLY]

You might want to look at the Object Design thread. The earnings this quarter are expected to be a disappointment (they pre-announced). Revenue is up but they expect to report a loss. The previous quarters showed positive earning. The pre-announcement of a loss caused the stock to drop from 9-10 in December, to around 5 1/2 in the first weeks of January. The uncertainty of Tech stocks and the database market did not help. Its currently trades around 6 to 6 «. Oops, I just checked the closing price today was 7. I've been traveling a lot lately, but I do not think they have reported yet. After they report it should be a good time to buy. It's a risk, but Object Databases certainly have a place in the database market. The question is, when and how big? Until this quarter, which I have not seen, they have been growing at around 35 % a year. Expectations were for at least 50%. I have been accumulating this stock for over a year. Not that that means anything. I'm a buy and hold type of investor. You should definitely ask questions on exchange2000.com

Regards

Tom
