It used to be possible to subscribe to media from across the spectrum... and be rewarded with sincere discussion of ideas from different perspectives... also getting news set in context as understood by those subscribing to those ideas...

Which still meant the Nation was always wrong... for the same reasons as always... just as all the others were wrong about those things they believed, that they believed they knew, that they didn't.

The disagreement facilitated finding truth in the middle...

But back then, al teast, stories were still covered in sufficient factual detail, unobfuscated, that you could parse the bias WaPo or the Times... or the different vision had in the LA rags... easily enough, and be left with a "more or less" if not ideoplogically consistent set of facts... still... a set of facts...

There is no news in the news anymore... they're just telling you what to think, manipulating emotions... and spilling yellow ink that's not worth reading... the unabashed bias overwhelming turthful story telling to the degree that truth is not obtainable from media... even by reading more broadly.

Today, the news is a mirror image of itself... always backwards... the exercise in interpretation being down to determining what they're lying about the MOST... and once you determine what that goals is... and why it is the goal... then truth is able to be determined as the opposite of what they're most insistent in saying... as truth is almost certainly that being closest to the opposite of what they want you to believe in error...

I think if you don't understand that... the world today probably makes no sense at all to you...

And, at the same time, the system of education has been reduced to an indoctrination camp... giving little hope that "the system" contains any real ability to address real problems or begin to teach others how to solve problems... again as they're determined to teach partisan "answers" as truith... rather than teach how to ask the right questions...
