FYI> Avalon Ventures Ltd (AVL-V) Wolf Mountain PGE property - drilling to start next week!

From Dec 17 Press release:

On the Wolf Mountain Platinum-Palladium project, the Company has received partial analytical results for 175 grab and channel samples collected during the trenching program completed in early November. The analytical results received to date yielded platinum and palladium (PGE) values consistent with those obtained from previous sampling of the same magnetic ultramafic rock unit by the property vendor. These values averaged 0.6 g/t platinum and 0.5 g/t palladium over an area of 250 x 250 metres in samples collected from a series of shallow pits dug to a maximum depth of one metre. One sample assayed as high as 3.8 g/t platinum and 3.8 g/t palladium and numerous samples have now yielded values in excess of 1 g/t combined PGE's.

The ultramafic unit hosting the anomalous PGE mineralization (identified as an olivine-rich peridotite) shows evidence of stratification and is now believed to represent a sub-horizontal mineralized horizon within a layered mafic-ultramafic intrusion. The new analytical data also reveals this unit to be enriched in chromium, nickel, cobalt and vanadium, yet it contains only trace levels of sulphide mineralization. These characteristics are typical of giant PGE deposits hosted by layered mafic-ultramafic intrusions such as the Bushveld Complex in South Africa and the Stillwater Complex in Montana. Therefore, the Wolf Mountain property is considered a top-quality target for economic PGE deposits and may also have potential for large nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide deposits elsewhere on the property.

Based on these very encouraging initial results obtained from the original 3,440 acre property, the Company has recently completed the staking of an additional 26,640 acres to cover other prospective PGE and copper-nickel-cobalt targets in the local area. The Company plans to complete the evaluation of all the geochemical data gathered from the trenching program over the next few weeks, and prepare a follow-up work program for early in the new year, which will include diamond drilling.

What BIG use looms for PGE's? Nothing much,
however silver has a MASSIVE usage possibility
on a delayed space project.
