The NATO special forces leading the jihadists made the news in the UK. They were gloating about the defeat of Gaddafi because there was a large segment of the population which wanted retribution for the Lockerbie bombing.

They're terrorists. They relied heavily on the threat of terror and atrocitites to cause the civilian population (5 million) to abandon its homeland. The social media was important in disseminating propaganda that included both real and fake atrocities in an effort to minimize the amount of effort to take the land.

They didn't side with the rebels. In each case, the US was the backbone of a coalition of corrupt governments that created these mercenary armies. These 'civil wars' are manufactured. They paid bounties to army officers to lure them into joining an opposition force for staging the civil war. Operation Timber Sycamore probably started a couple years earlier than the official story. Zbigniew Brzezinksi said as much. It takes considerable time to organize, train, and set up networks for supply lines, command and control, etc. to make these units ready for combat.

The question of chemical and biological weapons use in the war is debatable because several of the attacks apparently could not have been carried out by Syria. It was also had become a running joke where Obama would declare a chemical weapons red line and there would be a bomb deployed against civilians within a day. It wasn't credible that the Syrian government would invite NATO air attack when they were winning on the ground.

I don't really see any need to go any further.
