GREENLAWN, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 1998--Telebyte Technology Inc.
announced today the introduction of an industrial interface converter, the Model 8365, which is a
version of its most popular interface converter, the Model 365. The feature rich Model 8365 offers
user programmability of three different interface selections, RS-422, RS-485 2-wire and RS-485
4-wire, all to RS-232. The Model 8365 packs all this performance and more in a small DIN rail
case.

The Model 8365 Universal Interface Converter allows operation with RS-485 or RS-422
equipment and RS-232. When operating as an RS-232 to RS-422 interface converter, the Model
8365 converts full duplex data, TD and RD between single ended RS-232 and Full differential
RS-422.

As an RS-232 to RS-485 converter the Model 8365 can be user selected to operate as a 2-wire
half duplex or 4-wire half or full duplex converter. Both modes of operation have applicability to
polled or master/slave networks as used in factory automation. When operating in the RS-485
mode the Model 8365 has an "intelligent" mode which provides control of the RS-485 line. For
RS-485 half duplex protocol, the Model 8365 can be configured to control its data flow either by
request to send, RTS, or by transmit data, TD, both of the RS-232 port. Also incorporated in the
product is the latest ZRS-485 chip technology that now allows up to 256 transceivers to share a
common communications bus. Transmit and Receive LED's allow the user to visually monitor the
data activity.

The Model 8365 provides up to 230KBPS data transfer rates and uses a DB-9 for the RS-232
port, which is wired in compliance with the PC com port standard. The line interface for
RS-422/485 appears on a 5-position terminal block. The Model 8365 is powered by +12 Volts
DC and a small wall adapter is supplied. The adapter supports 110 Volt, 60 Hz, however, 220
Volt, 50 Hz is available as an ordering option. The Model 8365 is packaged in a DIN Rail mounted
enclosure whose size is 4.5"H x 3.0"W x 0.89"D (76.2mm x 114.3mm x 22.5mm).

The Model 8365 is available from Telebyte Technology, Inc. or any of its worldwide network of
distributors. The unit has a retail price of $178 each with significant discounts for OEM. For
