I have a Palestinian friend that arrived in the US circa 1951 as a child. He was funny, a real slacker at work, kind of a groovy "go along to get along" nice guy. All in all, a really nice guy. One day i asked him where his family came form in the ME. He then gave me a 20 minute history of what happened to his family when the Jews drove his village off their farms and poisoned their wells, sending them fleeing to Lebanon and eventually the US. It's one thing to read about atrocities, it's another to know people/victims that actually lived through one.
