Eric in top form

I have seen Eric Clapton many times live and in videos and honestly hearing playing this solo, note for note is a real rare event. Clapton almost never does solos as they were recorded. As he says he just plays his solo based on how he feels at the moment often very differently than it was played originally.

But on this special occasion I think he felt as a tribute to George he played with a lot of emotion and in true form like it was done on the White album. Certainly on this night he was in great form. I have the Blu-ray DVD of this concert and highly recommend it.

<<Actually I think Sammy's guitar work in this song is as good as anything Eddie did in Van Halen.>>

Well, that's a first for me and I've seen decades worth of who is the greatest guitarist debates. I get that music is subjective and it's about personal preference but at the fundamental, technical and ability level Sammy and Eddie are on different planets.....it's not even close. I've seen a lot of blues bands in local clubs around the country whose guitarists would blow Sammy off the stage - and I mean dozens of them.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.....and that's fine. It's the beauty of art.....
