So basically, some folks did really well to sell early in the day today (the "ex" date) . And now the market just seems to be reacting to the "downdraft" in the price! I keep getting alerts on my phone telling me my stock is down 15% as if to make me panic and sell ... but it's just because it's the "ex" date ! When they changed to T+2 recording of transactions everything changed. Also learned that if the dividend is over 25% of the stock price the rule on "ex" dividends is different. hmmm
