Thanks Paul, final question, can the Mercede chip go anywhere the Alpha chip can go,and if so can Alpha using machines be made with or "upgraded" to the Mercede chip,and therefore no problem for an eventual phase out of the Alpha?? Is the cost of each relatively the same? Thanx for putting up with me....M

Now, can you help me understand just what manufacturing rights are? Why would Intel even want manufacturing rights to a chip that will compete with Merced? Could they just refuse to make or convieniently slow down the manufacture of the chip?
