I think the history of Dacia has been misrepresented in this thread...

The real story, is that as the Roman Empire became profligate in its abuses... it naturally had impacts on commerce...

The need for external conquest... thus became essential to commerce... because the costs of supporting the power to enable the external conquest... destroyed the value of local commerce...

Rome invaded Dacia... because they had the best wine... when the local produce just wasn't all that good anymore...

Extrapolate at will... while noting that the fall of the Roman Empire... did not make the name of Dacia into a household word, today ?
