Socialism means...

Theft and redistribution... allocation based on politics... not merit...

Socialism REQUIRES a healthy and vibrant capitalist system.. otherwise it cannot work...

Because it consumes vastly more than it produces... It is the definition of inefficient allocation that bases its rewards on "taking from some"... to "give to others"... while ensuring there is less... also ensuring that takings punish the most productive, discouraging production... and reward the least productive, encouraging profligacy in consumption... It thus converts productive socieities into welfare dependencies... by burning the candle of social good from both ends... while growing the state apparatus in the middle... until there is nothing left...

Socialism may start with a healthy and vibrant economy... but then proceeds to ensure that it cannot work.

The politics of allocation.. are not rational... but disconnected from reason to the degree it imposes dysfunction.

See, for instance, what is happening right now... in the People's Republic of California...
