Socialism is... and must be... the opposite of a meritocracy...

Then why do fops and fools born to rich often rise .. on merit ? Nope,, just looking at equality of opportunity.. it will never be truly equal.. that's life.. and that is OK.. a natural consequence..as I pointed out my kids have a leg up.. and I make no excuses for my hard work in making that so.. none whatsoever.. not a sin or shame to be born into a more privileged life.. but I have also encountered many in higher positions that certainly are not there through merit and continue in their jobs to demonstrate a lack of merit and ability .. That is bad for the species.. I like to look outside my own world.. socialism as you see it equals equality of outcomes.. that would just destroy everything .. as I look at it and would accept it it would only promote equality of opportunity which benefits all of merit.. think of it this way .. The GOP and quite a few DEM moderates wanted Mr. Biden's relief bill to be more 'targeted' I think they were right... as presented it can be seen as your socialism view... I see that clearly... I have not looked at the infrastructure plan.. I think infrastructure is desperately needed in the US and in Canada.. but I heart the same rumblings .. the devil will of course be in the details as to exactly what is actually infrastructure spending and not plums...

Now my lonely garden beckons..

not there through merit and continue in their jobs to demonstrate a lack of merit and ability

BTW THAT is exactly how when unions get too strong they screw up... Teachers unions in Ontario a perfect example..
