VM Labs, which recently released details of Project X, a powerful multimedia processor that can bring games, movie playback and Internet access to DVD players and other set-top devices, said Thomson will incorporate Project X technology into digital video products in 1999. Toshiba said it will use the processor in DVD players in 1999.

VM Labs announced that Motorola will manufacture the media processor and use it in its upcoming interactive consumer-entertainment platform, code-named Blackbird.
