[stock action]

Seems like TXN is following a general rise in semis.... yes?
My question: Any reason for thinking otherwise?

Ray --

I posted a couple comments and then discovered they hadn't "taken." SI changed its format.

At any rate, I think TI's big move was ignited by the analysts who attended TI's DSL conference in Santa Fe last week. I'm told they went away very impressed. Judging by the stock action since then, I'm guessing they're taking their own positions before bringing out any new coverage.

It doesn't hurt that semis, in general, are also picking up.

I'm a happy camper.

Later --

Pat

Several sound reasons for TXN recovery.
DSP buzz appears to growing. DRAM pricing problems w/ S.Korea are subsiding a bit as that country is way overextended and cannot afford to keep selling massive volumes at a loss in a market flood. Chief investment analyst at Gruntal, Joe Battipaglia, lists TXN as one of his Top 3 picks for 1998 (target of $70). Just a well-run company. And, of course, the apparent calming of Asian collapse fears & the recent technology bounce as a whole have not hurt.

I agree with. Pretty quite thread after the nice move we have had. I hope we never hear about the Asia thing again
