As you no doubt know, Nano has Korean customers:

nanometrics.com
nanometrics.com
nanometrics.com

In the long term, you are right, Nano will get its share and go on to prosper with other more frugal customers. In the short term, if the loss of Korean revs is significant, replacement revenue will take time to realize. Shareholder patience will be tested, and the impatient would rather not carry dead money for another year. Everybody wants to get rich tomorrow, not next year. Pity.

Currently, FUD about the Korean impact on near term earnings hangs over the upcoming earnings report. I would assume that a shortfall would be pre-announced, but nary a peep. Price has been moving up lately on pre-earnings speculation? Portents of good news?

Ain't this fun?

Douglas

Tom,

I think Doug explained it very well. This is the tough time to get excited for just plain talking. Here is my promised report of AAII database study:

The calculation was based on the data available at 12/31/97. Here are the
calculations:

A. Latest annul earning 0.62/share
B. I/B/E/S 0.65/share
C. 5 year growth rate, % 58
D. Trend: 0.62/share x 1.58 = 0.98/share
E. Current P/E 13.2
F. 5 year average P/E 16.8

The projected future price:

Valuation : E x D = 13.2 x 0.98 = 12.94/share
Average Valuation: F x D = 16.8 x 0.98 = 16.46/share
PE Valuation : 13.2 x 0.65 = 8.58/share
Average PE Valuation : 16.8 x 0.65 = 10.92/share

It is interesting to know that NANO is still trading below its 5 year average PE valuation, 10.92. The PE of other hot stocks such as AMAT and KLAC are about 25 at this moment. NANO should be traded at 10.33 even if the PE is 1/3 lower than these big boys. There is still plenty room for NANO stock to grow. I wish us the best luck.

Sincerely,
Wade
