This portfolio was started at age 24, now age 36, with $42k he had accumulated since age 10. When he was 10 years old I bought him 10 shares in the Boston Celtics when they were a public company. From that point on I had him set aside 20% of his allowance, 20% of his birthday money and 20% of his holiday gift money. He was only investing $10 per month to start and there was a Mutual Fund for children back then you could set up for $10 per month on a bank draft.

When he got a part time job after school while in high school, I took 20% of that too. By the time he reached age 24 he had $42k in his account and that's when this portfolio started as Project $3 Million.

He's been investing $500 per month every month since he was 24.
