They are for working on my boat. It's fiberglass, and the paint etc, plus the wood dust is not any good for the lungs. I could have gone for "FF3" but for my purposes the "FF2"'s are suitable. I have no plans to effectively filter out any corona viruses. If I did, I would watch a blue asbestos removal training film first, and comply with the restrictions in a very exacting manner. Quote "CONCLUSION Trials comparing different kinds of mask have been summarised in a recent high-quality systematic review and provide cautious support for the use of standard surgical masks in non AGPs, though the empirical studies underpinning this conclusion were not in a COVID-19 population, and only one was in a community setting. It is clear from the literature that masks are only one component of a complex intervention which must also include eye protection, gowns, behavioural measures to support proper doffing and donning, and general infection control measures. These wider aspects of PPE will be covered in a further rapid review (ongoing)." end quote. (march 2020) What is the efficacy of standard face masks compared to respirator masks in preventing COVID-type respiratory illnesses in primary care staff? - The Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (cebm.net) As posted earlier in Ivor Cumming link, no one, but no one knows the triggering mechanisms for influenza virus spreads . The downward flux of viruses from the upper atmosphere is measured in the hundreds of millions per square meter.... everywhere. every 24 hours. That data is available if you need it. Something to consider before donning an N100 or FF3 mask to "protect" your self from viruses. :-)
