There is an obvious impact that comes from pairing the progress in administering vaccines... with the known to be incorrect information that the success of the vaccines in preventing mortality means prior restrictions are made unnecessary... A French virologist wrote a letter about it recently, that got a bit of attention... But, the impact will be... a vast acceleration in the rate of virus mutation through the accelerated propagation of virus in the vaccinated but still unprotected... who are being encouraged to stop taking protective measures... and convert themselves into incubators. Declaring the virus to be endemic... is not something the virus cares about ? Declaring that people can stop taking self protective measures... will accelerate viral propagation. The policy converts the vaccinated population into a giant open air lab, or petri dish... accelerating viral replication... and mutation... That WILL happen. It is already happening. "What could possibly go wrong" ? Quite a lot, actually... The risk is real. The worst case... would likely be a population wide parallel to other natural virus behaviors seen in individuals. Think, herpes... where infected individuals can live with the fact they are infected, and remain largely symptom free... but, then, are subject to "random" outbreaks... of varying intensity. The "randomness"... is likely not that random, though... but has precipitating factors. Stress a well known instance of a precipitating factor in the case of herpes. While "mortality" is not an overly common result of herpetic outbreaks... it is not unknown, either... Extending that model... to a worst case in an endemic corona virus : Some variant, made endemic... with some latent susceptibility to an unknown "random" precipitating factor making it suddenly lethal... perhaps in the form of a binary event in combination with some other virus inducing it... could have a large portion of the world's population suddenly die in a very short period of time... because the "endemic" aspect has people "pre-infected"... so the "curve" might be near vertical. The binary element as a triggering virus... need not be particularly dangerous in its own right for those not already infected with the "endemic" variant. It might be basically benign... for those not infected with the "endemic" problematic variant. Then, the pace of mortality would depend mostly on the virulence of the "trigger"... only... the ease with which it spreads, only... and not any other intrinsically dangerous characteristic of that second virus. And, there is an already known risk related to that, in the corona viruses... that means the protection against mortality provided by the vaccine... comes paired with a risk in an essentially open ended potential that another virus might exploit that same "protection" to use it as a "prevention" of an effective immune response to that new variant... Just as we now deal with the aftermath of "Gain of function research? Sure, what could go wrong?" we also now have "Protection from a vaccine that might be converted into an immune system off switch ? Sure, what could go wrong?" The vaccine that protects you from mortality from... but not from infection by SARSCoV2 and it variants... might well doom you to an accelerated demise if challenged by another virus variant that exploits that prior manipulation of the immune system to convert its "protective function" into "an open door to"... rather than an "obstacle to" mortality. As I was writing this... coincidentally... got a phone call from a friend telling me a story he'd just heard in "alternative media" that roughly parallels the above "potential"... only with it being wrapped up in a conspiracy theory about it being "the aliens" doing it to "make the planet sustainable" for us... Not aliens. Just stupid nazis... psychopathic sociopaths. Blaming the aliens having nothing to do with whether or not they exist... only having to do with... bad people excusing bad behavior by lying... which is all very human. The only "new" element in that risk... is a conversion from the drivers being "random" events to being deliberate... because of evil people doing evil things.... as they are wont to do. Those people do exist. Did Fauci lie about funding gain of function research... in Wuhan ? So, why should anyone believe a damn thing he says... about anything ? How you judge the risks... will depend on how much you believe you should trust people... who have repeatedly proven themselves unworthy of respect, much less trust...
