What I want to know is whether Compaq will treat Digital's VMS (and Unix?) operations like "baggage" as implied by that quote.

Seeing how the legal system works. I fully expect Mr. Softie to be suing all unix box makers pretty soon claiming that unix was really invented by microsoft. Do you think that the judges who sit on the bench are really so computer illiterate or do you think they take pay-olla from Mr. Softie. My friend who is dealing with the DOJ says the first is true. So is the second also true?
